Passes, Types Available

Whatever your need, SamTrans has a monthly pass for you.

A variety of monthly passes are available to meet your transit needs. Passes are valid for unlimited rides, seven days a week during the month for which they are issued. Passes are valid for any route which has the same ride value or less as shown on the pass. The ride value of any pass may be applied to any route with a higher ride value by paying the difference in cash.

Passes may be purchased from vendors throughout SamTrans' service area. Should you be unable to get to one of these locations, call our Customer Service Center for a mail order form.

bullet   Eligible Discount Pass $22/Month

For use by senior, disabled and Medicare cardholder patrons on any Local or Express route at any time. Bus operator may ask for proof of age, disability or to see Medicare card.

bullet   Youth Pass $29/Month

For use by youth patrons age 17 years and younger on any Local or Express route at any time. Bus operator may ask for proof of age.

bullet   Local Ride-value Pass $56/Month

For use by adult patrons on any Local route at any time and on Routes CX, KX, 391, 292 and 397 within San Mateo County and to Palo Alto.

bullet    SF Local: $1.75 in/$3.50 out Ride-value Pass $84/Month

For use by adult patrons on any Local route and on Routes 391, 292 and 397 when traveling out of San Francisco.

bullet    Express: $4.50 Ride-value Pass $144/Month

For use by adult patrons on any SamTrans route.

bullet    Prorated Monthly Passes

Monthly passes can be purchased on a prorated basis for partial month use only at the SamTrans headquarters or by mail. Prices are discounted 25% between the 8th and 14th of the month and 50% between the 15th and 21st of the month. Passes sold between the 1st and 7th are not subject to prorated discounts.


Multi-agency Passes

A pass that is valid on SamTrans and BART is available from BART ticket vending machines and other outlets. SamTrans offers a shared pass with Muni. A SamTrans pass with Muni sticker may be purchased at most San Francisco and Daly City pass vendors. For details about both joint-agency passes, see below.
