SamTrans Board Elects New Officers for 2007
The San Mateo County Transit District elected new
board officers at its monthly meeting. Board member
Marc Hershman was elected chair, and board member
Supervisor Adrienne Tissier was elected vice chair,
in unanimous votes.
Hershman, who has served on the SamTrans board
since 2003, is also mayor of the City of Millbrae.
Vice Chair Tissier, who has served on the board since
2005, also holds a seat on the county board of supervisors.
During 2006, SamTrans experienced a growth of
nearly 2 percent in average weekday ridership,
and maintained an on-time average of more than
90 percent over its 55 routes that travel throughout
San Mateo County and into parts of San Francisco
and Palo Alto.
The transit district’s board has nine members, with
two representatives from the county board of
supervisors, three city council representatives,
who are appointed by the Cities Selection Committee,
three public members from different geographic
regions of the county, and a transportation expert,
who is appointed by the county board of supervisors.
The transit district board meets the second Wednesday
of each month at 2 p.m. at
1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos, two blocks
El Camino bus service and the train station.
