SamTrans Reaches Out To Latino Community
SamTrans launched its “SamTrans is Family” campaign with a direct mail promotion that is being mailed to communities with large Latino populations in Redwood City, East Palo Alto, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Daly City and San Mateo.
The Latino community represents a large percentage of SamTrans’ passengers and the award-winning bus service would like to remind its loyal ridership and new riders that SamTrans provides the kind of convenient, reliable, economical and stress-free service you would expect from family.
The direct mail promotion, which contains two free one-way tickets, is being mailed to more than 28,000 households along the Peninsula with the goal of encouraging residents to try the service. The tickets are valid through April 30.
The outreach is augmented by Spanish-language television advertisements that emphasize the high price of gas and the many transit connections available to SamTrans riders. Commuters can use the SamTrans Savings Calculator to see how much money they will save by taking SamTrans instead of driving their car.
The SamTrans System Route Map for riders includes information in Spanish. Plans are underway to develop a Spanish-language Web site.
