Transit District to Hold Public Meeting on Strategic Plan

Transit District to Hold Public Meeting on Strategic Plan
The San Mateo County Transit District will hold a public meeting Wednesday, Oct. 29 to present information on the development of its Strategic Plan and seek public input. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and take place at the Transit District administrative office, 1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos.
The Strategic Plan will serve as the District’s road map for the next five years by:
- Providing strategic direction for the agency
- Establishing a baseline by which it can measure its progress towards the stated goals
The Transit District operates the SamTrans bus service, Redi-Wheels paratransit service for persons with disabilities and funds shuttle services that link key employment centers with BART and Caltrain service. The Transit District also is the managing agency for Caltrain and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority.
The Strategic Plan will assist the Transit District with deciding what role it will undertake in the future to maximize mobility in the county, taking into consideration climate change, sustainability, financial bandwidth and changing demographics, such as an aging population.
A key ingredient in developing a successful plan is to receive input from those who benefit from the service and agency: the customers and community. At the meeting, staff will present information on the plan and be available to answer questions. A draft of the Strategic Plan will be available Nov. 5 on the Transit District’s Web site: www.samtrans.com, with comments due Nov. 19.
