international impressions: BART
BART ridership at the San Mateo County stations is steadily growing and is
projected to increase more.
Travelers, commuters and transit dependent passengers are using the four
San Mateo County BART stations more and more.
The 2005 Thanksgiving travel season saw an increase in ridership of
4.7 percent over the previous year. The monthly ridership numbers continue
to increase, which can be attributed to both SamTrans’ and BART’s
continuous community outreach and marketing programs.
SamTrans and BART have been working to make the service a success
through innovative service changes that have made it more accessible,
easier to use and cost effective to operate.
Fast Fact: On Nov. 23, 2005, the day before Thanksgiving, 11,552 people
took BART to the San Francisco International Airport, 73 percent more
than on an average weekday.
