smart impressions: REDI-WHEELS
We’re changing to keep up with our county’s population.
As the county’s population ages, the transit district’s paratransit service for
customers with disabilities, Redi-Wheels and RediCoast, is continuing to
seek new ways to operate an efficient and effective service. To maintain our
high standards of service and on-time performance, Redi-Wheels streamlined
its business procedures and in 2004 introduced a new and improved process
for determining customer eligibility. These business changes allow for
continued reliable, on-time service for certified Redi-Wheels passengers.
After some initial concerns about how the eligibility process would be handled,
the San Mateo County Paratransit Coordinating Council confirms that it’s been
a very smooth transition and customers are still getting high-quality service
they’ve come to expect.
Redi-Wheels passengers are riding in style. The district purchased 10 new
paratransit “cut-aways,” small buses that can carry three wheelchairs, seven
passengers and can accommodate mobility devices such as scooters.
Redi-Wheels service is making a lasting impression on its customers by
continually offering safe, reliable, on-time trips for those who rely on this
service as their main source of transportation.
Fast Fact: Redi-Wheels has maintained zero trip denials for more than four years.
