sustainable impressions: TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
It was a victory for transportation projects!
In November 2004, San Mateo County voters approved the reauthorization of Measure A,
the county’s half-cent transportation sales tax, by an unprecedented 75.8 percent of the vote.
This victory gives testimony to the impression the Transportation Authority’s
projects have made on the county’s infrastructure. The TA is the governing
agency established to administer Measure A funds. The victory also lauds the
TA’s smart work during the community outreach process, which involved
stakeholders and the community in planning for the next measure’s many projects.
By approving the 25-year plan San Mateo County’s voters made a lasting
impression for the next generation.
The new measure will run from 2009 through 2033.
Fast Fact: A whopping 22.5 percent of the
Measure A funds collected will be given directly to local cities for improving
or maintaining local transportation, including streets and roads.
